A native Californian (with the exception of the four years she lived in Indiana to get her DVM degree at Purdue University), Dr. Evelyn Vega has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Santa Clarita Valley since July 2000.
In addition to Purdue, Dr. Vega has also attended Loyola Marymount University and Cal State Los Angeles, where she completed her Masters in Biology. Post Veterinary school, She has also completed training in Veterinary acupuncture, Homeopathy, and Veterinary Rehabilitation. Currently she is looking to be certified in Veterinary pain management.
Prior to starting her own practice, Dr. Vega has worked with many animal hospitals in the area, including several years at VIP Veterinary. She also ran her own in-home mobile veterinary service, Happy Pets Mobile Veterinary, performing veterinary house calls from Santa Clarita to Palmdale for over five years.
Throughout her time in Santa Clarita, Dr Vega has been honored in receiving multiple local awards. In a reader’s poll for Santa Clarita Living Magazine Dr. Vega was named Best Veterinarian. She also received best Woman Veterinarian of the Year, best Hispanic Business owner of the year, as well as multiple others. She is proud of these achievements and proudly displays them in her clinic.
She is a past member of the local Soroptimist charity group and was a long time member of Network Referral Group of Santa Clarita. She is also a member of various veterinary organizations such as the AVMA and CVMA. Dr. Vega lives in Saugus with her husband John, their two dogs Winston Churchill and Coco Butter, their cat Madame Leota and an assortment of pond turtles and fish.
