Dr. Evelyn Vega

Veterinarian

A native Californian (with the exception of the four years she lived in Indiana to get her medical doctorate at Purdue University), Dr. Evelyn Vega has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Santa Clarita Valley since July 2000.

In addition to Purdue, Dr. Vega has also attended Loyola Marymount University and Cal State Los Angeles, where she completed her Masters in Biology.

Prior to starting her own practice, Dr. Vega has worked with many animal hospitals in the area, including several years at VIP Veterinary.

She has also run her own in-home mobile veterinary service (Happy Pets Mobile Veterinary), performing veterinary house calls from Santa Clarita to Palmdale for over five years.

In a reader’s poll, Santa Clarita Living Magazine named Dr. Vega Best Veterinarian.

She is a past member of the local Soroptimist charity group and a member of N.R.G. (Network Referral Group of Santa Clarita) since 2001. She is also a member of various veterinary organizations.

Dr. Vega lives in Saugus with her husband John, their two dogs Winston Churchill and Coco Butter, their two cats Madame Leota and Cali, a rabbit named Aldo and an assortment of pond turtles and fish.

Dr. Kelsey Stickler

Veterinarian

Dr. Kelsey Stickler started as a veterinary assistant at Happy Pets back in the summer of 2017. Kind and determined, the Santa Clarita native spent her summer breaks for veterinary school working at Happy Pets advancing her skills when not in school.

Dr. Kelsey graduated from Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in the midst of the COVID-19 quarantine of 2020. Shortly after graduating, she returned home to join the Happy Pets family as a veterinarian.

Her interest in veterinary medicine started in junior high when she adopted her first dog: Callie.

Dr. Kelsey’s current veterinary interests include nutrition, internal medicine and canine rehabilitation.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading and listening to music. She also enjoys going to the beach with friends and family.

We at Happy Pets Veterinary Center are extremely proud of Dr. Stickler’s amazing accomplishment, completely living up to her last name as being very detail-oriented and committed to offering the best medicine possible.

Dr. Howie Baker

Veterinarian

Dr. Baker graduated from Colorado State University Phi Beta Kappa with his Bachelor’s in 1984 then with his doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1987. After moving to California to start a new adventure he worked at the Agoura Animal Clinic until 1999 when he became a founding partner in TLC Pet Medical Centers of West Hollywood and South Pasadena, both are multi-practice specialty and 24 hour hospitals.

Dr. Baker was the Medical Director in West Hollywood from 1999-2012, and then served as Medical Director from 2012-2015 in South Pasadena. At this time he returned to the Agoura Animal Clinic where he continues to work part time. After years of long commutes Dr. Baker joined Happy Pets Veterinary Center because of it’s close location to Acton (I.e. minimal commute time) and the wonderful down home feel that a smaller Veterinary hospital offers to its clients.

After thirty three years of practicing Veterinary medicine, Dr. Baker still thoroughly enjoys caring for his furry four legged patients and schmoozing with their two legged friends.

When Dr. Baker is not working he can be found playing with his lovely wife Sondra and their two dogs Fanta and Dobby. He also spends his time practicing Suh Do Kwan Kung Fu where he has achieved the rank of first degree black belt. He also works as a professional network marketer for an international health and wellness company and dabbles in real estate investing.
